“What have you tried since our last session?” I asked.

Ms. Black's blue eyes widened. Then her eye gaze fell. “You already know,” she replied.

But I need you to name it. I thought. I sat quietly. I didn't utter a word.

She sat quietly too. The room was filled with an awkward quietness.

“So I already know?” I repeated what she'd said hoping to draw something from her other than my thoughts about her situation. I was thinking to myself - her situation is that bad.

She still sat speechless. So I had to try a different technique.

“The alcohol did not work?” I started my typical list of questions. “And the wild shopping spree did not help you either.”

“I had a terrible hangover, and I am stuck with a boat I really don't want. But tell me. Please tell me how did you know?” she asked.

“I am a professional,” I responded.

“That makes sense,” she said.

“And the pills? The doctor's prescriptions?” I asked.

“Only side effects,” she uttered.

“How about the extramarital affair?” I knew she'd tried about everything.

“That's why I am here. That's why I need to see you tonight.” She cried. Tears streamed down her face.

“Are you willing to explore that route again?” I asked.

She stared at me wonderingly through her tears.

“I am referring to the extramarital affair. Are you ready for that experience again?” I knew she needed to get that off of her shoulders.

“What else do you know about me?” She asked.
